removing vista boot manager

Removing Vista Boot Manager...

I have two hard drives, one with my Windows XP Pro install and I installed a new drive to put vista on. I booted from the vista dvd and partitioned and formatted the new drive and installed vista on it. I did not realize it would put its boot manager on my xp drive because I wasn't thinking logically. Hence, it has to go onto drive one. I would like to start over and install vista on the 2nd drive but without having my xp drive in the machine. This way both drives have their own manager, but I can select them in my bios boot menu. Is it possible to remove the vista manager without losing my xp install? Or should I expect to have to reinstall xp and vista?
Any help would be appreciated. Paul cochran11@chartermi.net remexpc@hotmail.com

I have just installed vista without thinking logically. I have two hard drives, one with my xp pro and an old blank drive. I installed vista from the dvd, not thinking about removing my xp drive. I wanted to be able to choose the drive from my bios boot menu and boot to the individual drives boot managers. I can still access my xp install with 'Use Earlier version of windows' but would like to remove the vista boot maganer and try it again MY way. Is it possible? OR am I looking at a complete reinstall of xp and vista?
Any help would be appreciated.

On the vista dvd look for Boot directory. Go there and run: bootsect /nt52 SYS /force
The XP boot menu will be back alone.

I had the same problem and tried your recommendation. It worked really well.
The only difference is that I ran the command 'bootsect /nt52 C:' since my XP installation was on the c-drive.
